We are two guys that have worked in the Home Improvement industry for a long time. In what almost seems a previous life now, we worked as sub contractors for high volume window companies, watching and learning what works and what doesn’t. Eventually we decided that we could build our own solid, successful business. A business that doesn’t cut corners or feel the need to pressure its own clients and that we could do so without slick marketing and gimmicks. There are 2 ways of installing windows, retro fit (on top of existing frame) and brick to brick (complete removal of existing window frames). There are situations where retrofit is OK and maybe even better suited than brick to brick, but most cases nowadays call for brick to brick in order to do the job properly. Our Ace in the hole is Art. Art has been in the window and door business since 1973. (Metro license #B 2355). He has been the top installer at some of the largest window companies in the past and has trained many of the crews out there today. Art personally rechecks, (detailed measurements), our jobs before we order any product. It is at this point, the recheck, where integrity and experience shine through. These qualities allow us to avoid serious problems that may lead to dissatisfied customers. For example, maybe the customer has ordered some retrofit windows and once Art rechecks the job he realizes that there is an underlying problem with the existing window frames. This could lead to a whole host of problems down the road, ranging from drafts, to sagging and falling out of square, therefore leading to difficulty operating the windows. At this point Art would take the time to explain all of this to the client and offer some alternatives which could range from doing all the windows brick to brick, to maybe holding off on the job altogether until the budget allowed a proper quality installation.
We realize that at this point we may risk losing the order, whereas many companies out there may proceed as they don’t plan on being around long term and honoring warranties. It’s common in our industry to have installers remeasure jobs . While having an installer measure has its advantages, there is no guarantee they will show the same level of concern or have the experience to head off potential problems. Art is one of the owners, his reputation is at stake on every job.
Our company is built on simple ideas and common sense.
