Is it time to replace your windows? Windows play a crucial role in protecting your home from the elements, enhancing security, and improving its overall appearance. If you’re considering new windows, you may be wondering how long the installation process takes. The timeline can vary depending on several key factors, from ordering materials to the actual installation.
Window Installation Timeline

From the time you place an order for new custom-made windows, to the final installation, the process usually takes 4-8 weeks. Once your windows arrive, we book the installation with you and on installation days we usually install up to 6-8 windows, depending on the size of the project items and weather conditions. Here are some key factors that may impact the installation timeline:
Type of Windows
The type of windows you choose can also affect the timeline.
Custom or Specialty Windows: Custom shapes and coloured windows can add up to 2 weeks usually, compared to standard white windows. Up to 8 weeks.
Standard White Vinyl Windows: Typically have a shorter turnaround time. Up to 6 weeks.
Number of Windows Being Replaced
The more windows being replaced, the longer the installation process will take. However, usually our installers work efficiently, with most projects completed within a day or two. Large whole house projects can take up to a week.
Weather plays a role in determining when and how quickly window installation can be completed. Surprisingly, it’s not very often that days are lost to bad weather. A little rain doesn’t hurt anyone.
Winter: We install all year round and caulking and foam work to -40C. There are many nice days in winter that are perfect for installing and often preferrable to hotter working conditions. Knockouts are not usually performed in winter as a day long opening in a wall isn’t recommended. Regular installations only involve a hole in the wall for a few minutes at a time while the new window is placed in the old opening. Most of the time is spent shimming, foaming, caulking, installing interior and exterior trim.
Spring and Summer and Fall: These are peak seasons for window replacement, and we’re often booked weeks in advance. Longer daylight hours allow for more products to be installed. If you want installation during these periods don’t forget to book 2 months ahead of time..
